The Barton Center for Diabetes Education
The Barton Center for Diabetes Education operates a camp facility with about a dozen cabins and several administration buildings on a large site surrounding a pond. Several septic systems on the site were beginning to show signs of failure, therefore GEI was retained to design a sewage collection system to connect all buildings on site to the municipal sewer system. GEI provided topographic survey, bid phase, construction administration and periodic inspection services. The project included the following:
• Demolition and abandonment of existing septic system components.
• Construction of new Health and Education Center and design for future Arts & Crafts Building.
• New large municipal sewage pump station to service the facility and over 1 mile of force main to the nearest municipal sewer.
• Three (3) new Environment One grinder pump stations with controls to service low-lying areas of the site.
• Two separate directional drilling operations for pond and stream crossings.
• DEP and Town of Oxford permitting.
